CODEMASTERS JOINS MASSIVE ADVERTISING NETWORK
Leading Global Publisher & Developer Signs Exclusive Multi-Year, Multi-Title Partnership that will Bring Top Racing Titles into Massive’s In-Game Advertising Network
NEW YORK, NY—March 22, 2005—Massive Incorporated today announced that Codemasters has signed on to participate in the Massive Advertising Network. As the publisher of leading worldwide game franchises including Colin McRae Rally and ToCA Race Driver, Codemasters is the latest publisher to capitalize on the dramatic revenue opportunities made possible through Massive’s breakthrough network for in-game advertising. Codemasters’ impressive European title lineup coincides with Massive’s planned European expansion in April 2005.
Titles in the Massive Network can contribute $1.00 to $2.00 in incremental profit per unit sold—and significantly more for sports and racing games. Titles in the network enjoy the benefit of cross-promotional marketing support from some of the largest advertisers, as well as informative play data that gives publishers and developers useful insight into aggregated gamer experience with their games, in real time.
“We believe that the opportunities and game play insight that the Massive Network provides is good for us and the industry,” said Matt Davies, Codemasters’ Business Development Manager. “We’re pleased to be an early participant in the Network and will ensure our leading titles integrate into the system naturally within the game environments.”
Massive's network delivers advertiser messages seamlessly into premiere video games, played primarily by an 18-34 male audience. In Codemasters’ motorsport titles the advertisements may appear on trackside hoardings and circuit billboards, and other advertising elements that naturally fit the game environment. To date, 40 titles from ten global publishers are committed to the Massive Network through 2005. Publishers and developers alike can enjoy revenues from ‘lost sales’, including piracy, pass along, pre-owned sales market, rentals, as well as combat lower retail price pressures. Aside from the enormous revenue potential, in-game advertising actually enhances the realism of a game. By the end of 2005 the network will deliver an advertising reach of four million, in the U.S. alone—as large as any TV affiliate reach numbers today.
Said Massive CEO Mitchell Davis, “Codemasters is a dominant player on the global video game stage and we’re pleased to add their premier titles to the growing network. Their racing titles are a perfect match for the global advertisers that are working with us.”
