PRO EVOLUTION SOCCER 2008 GOES LIVE IN MASSIVE NETWORK
Football favourite Joins Massive network, Extending Leadership in Global In-Game Ad Market
LONDON– December 4, 2007 – Massive Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Microsoft Corp. and a leading network for video game advertising, today announced an agreement with Konami Digital Entertainment Co. Ltd. to incorporate Pro Evolution Soccer 2008, one of the leading video game titles in the football genre, into the Massive Network on the Xbox 360™ video game entertainment system from Microsoft and the PC platform.
Released as Pro Evolution Soccer in Europe and the US, and Winning Eleven in Japan, the game is consistently given high acclaim globally and was the only game in any genre to be nominated for “Best of Show” on multiple game platforms at the 2007 Games Convention in Leipzig, Germany, Europe’s largest show for interactive entertainment.
The game combines popularity amongst key advertiser demographics with incredibly realistic gaming scenarios, in which advertising fits naturally as part of the game experience. This new content expands the ad inventory available within mainstream titles that are as familiar to advertisers and their agencies worldwide as to the consumers they target.
Konami said, “We are thrilled to work with Massive to deliver blue-chip advertising into one of our most significant titles and to contribute to the growth of dynamic in-game advertising. Winning Eleven: Pro Evolution Soccer delivers premium ad inventory with truly global reach, while providing a natural, player-friendly setting for fully integrated ad placements.”
Winning Eleven: Pro Evolution Soccer allows players to personalize their gaming experience. Players have the option to choose their own teams from a selection of more than 200, including officially licensed club teams from the Italian, French, Spanish and Dutch leagues, as well as 10,000 individual players and 15 stadiums. Advanced football moves, tricks and formations are complemented by truly realistic stadium environments, including the placement of ads similar to those seen in real-world sports venues.
“Konami creates extremely exciting game content that is very well-suited to Massive advertising partners,” said Cory Van Arsdale, CEO of Massive. “The addition of popular video games such as Winning Eleven: Pro Evolution Soccer into the Massive network reflects the evolution of in-game advertising into a mainstream channel for marketers around the world to reach and engage the youth demographic.”
