Cory Van Arsdale, CEO
Cory has been at Microsoft for over twelve years and was just recently appointed to be CEO of the Massive Incorporated subsidiary delivering in-game advertising for PC and console games. Cory’s background is about developing successful partnerships. For the past six years, he ran business development and partnerships, beginning with a small team supporting MSN in the U.S. and growing it to an 80+ person team supporting all of global Online Services. Along the way, the team developed partner relationships that have brought in significant contribution margin to Microsoft while enjoying some of the highest partner satisfaction in the company.

Prior to MSN and business development, Cory practiced law for 15 years as a technology development and transaction specialist. Six years were spent in Microsoft’s Law Department, where he supported Windows 9x, Internet Explorer and the Digital Media Division. His most fun deal: licensing Start Me Up from the Rolling Stones for the Windows 95 launch. Prior to Microsoft, Cory practiced in Silicon Valley at Sun Microsystems, Apple and the start-up, Be, Inc. Cory graduated from Santa Clara University law school and the University of California at Santa Barbara.

Carol Koh Evans, General Manager
Carol has over 12 years of experience working in the technology, online media and finance sectors. Prior to joining Massive following the acquisition by Microsoft, Carol spent six years with Microsoft in Corporate Development, Corporate Strategy and MSN M&A where she primarily supported Microsoft’s consumer initiatives, including MSN, Home & Entertainment and Digital Media. Prior to Microsoft, Carol led Corporate Development for The Knot (www.theknot.com, the leading wedding portal) and managed the company’s IPO in December 1999. In addition, she worked as an investment banker with Lehman Brothers in New York and Hong Kong and Robertson Stephens in San Francisco as well as participated in General Electric’s Financial Management Program.

Carol received her MBA from Columbia Business School and her BS in Business Administration from the Walter Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley.

Katherine Hays, Chief Operating Officer
Katherine has an extensive background in general management and finance specific to the media industry. She is a former Equity Research Analyst with Goldman Sachs, where she covered global media companies including AOL Time Warner, Disney, News Corp and Vivendi Universal, as well as headed the firm's digital and interactive media team. Prior to Goldman Sachs, Katherine worked in investment banking with Salomon Smith Barney in their media and communications practice. Deals included DoubleClick, Charter Communications, Washington Post and AMC Entertainment. She also has experience as a management consultant for the Boston Consulting Group (BCG), where she worked as part of their retail and media practice.

Katherine holds an MBA degree from the Harvard Business School and a BA from Princeton University.

Jay Sampson, North American Sales Director
Jay has over 15 years in the advertising and media sales industry. Most recently as Western Regional Sales Director for MSN®, Jay was responsible for driving sales of the divisions’ advertising and marketing services and leading the broad Western sales force. Jay joined Microsoft Corporation in 1997 as one the first media sales executives for the company. Since joining, he has held a number of positions within in the organization including driving the development of the vertical sales approach by starting the MSN® Financial Services sales group. Jay has also been a frequent evangelist for the medium and has worked closely with Microsoft product groups and channels to develop consumer features and partner programs.

Prior to Microsoft, Jay worked in New York City for Dow Jones & Company in a number of capacities and was on the forefront of their efforts to launch sites like Barron’s Online.

 
David Sturman, VP of Technology
David has over 25 years of experience in the technology industry. David is a past CTO of Acclaim Entertainment, formerly a leading Developer and Publisher of console video games. While at Acclaim, he led the company's on-line games initiative and instituted a program to coordinate software tool development across five formerly independent game studios. He is also the former Vice President of Technology for MaMaMedia, an award-winning Internet site for children, and served as Director of R&D at Medialab Paris, where he spearheaded the development of 3D real-time computer puppetry software.

David holds a PhD from the MIT Media Lab in computer graphics and animation. He is also a specialist in videogame technology and design, which he has taught as an adjunct professor at Columbia University.

Claudia Batten, VP of Client Relations
Claudia has six years of experience in the technology sector, including four years as a corporate attorney specializing in contracts and technology law. Claudia has advised corporations, both as customers and suppliers, on technology supply, licensing, outsourcing and a variety of general commercial contracts—including tendering, reselling and consumer contracts. Claudia has worked with large corporations in the telecommunications sector (specifically in mobile), banking and biotechnology; and she has specialist experience with intellectual property protection, e-commerce and privacy.

Claudia holds a commerce degree in marketing and management, and a law degree with honors (for her investigation of the intellectual property protection of computer software) from Victoria University in Wellington, New Zealand.

Alison Lange, Marketing Director
Alison has twelve years of experience in the media industry. At Massive, Alison runs the company's Marketing, Market Research and Public Relations initiatives. Prior to Massive, Alison worked at HBO in Subscriber Marketing and Business Development. Before HBO, Alison was an Associate at Goldman Sachs in the Media & Entertainment Investment Banking Division, advising companies on mergers and acquisitions, divestitures and corporate strategy. Prior to Goldman Sachs, Alison worked for six years at the CBS Television Network, in both Advertising Sales and Sports Programming.

Alison holds an MBA from The Wharton School and a BA from UCLA, where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa and magna cum laude.
